PLACES The Martinborough 4-square, or PK’s as everyone calls it, is like a mini Farro Fresh or Moore Wilson’s. It’s got everything you need. Favourite wineries are Poppies, 3 Little Words at Coney Wines, Luna Estate, and Columbo (for a great Pizza) (all dog friendly outside). The Martinborough bakery is great for fresh bread and baking (get there early). In the village, the Martinborough hotel and CC’s across the road are always humming on a beautiful summer evening. Dog things - Pallisers woolshed vineyard (previously Cloustons) is a stunning dog friendly walk that is hugely popular with local dog owners. Only open weekends and after 5pm, it’s accessible off Weld Street. (Closed in March and April during harvest) The Ruamahanga River is a popular swimming spot but beware of toxic algae during summer months. It’s deadly to dogs and makes an appearance every summer. Morrison’s Bush is another great swimming spot but algae is also a major problem in hot weather. Claremont cabs provide a good service if you would prefer not to drive. Ph 063069162
